Reefs near Kri and Mansoear always have thousands of fish " From Kri Island Camp some of the best offshore reefs are 5 - 15 min. trips. We loved Sardine Reef. Three of us went back to it 5 times in a row! Once we learned how to stay in the backwash where the current hits the reef and splits we were in fish heaven! Blue-colored Surgeonfish blocked out the sun on all 5 dives; schools of thousands of them just hung there nearly on the bottom. I found I could compose photos by selecting a bommie with a nice selection of colorful soft corals and fans or an orange elephant ear sponge, then swim slowly toward the massive school of surgeonfish snapping shots as they eased away from me and parted to let the corals show through! Magnificent Sea Urchin "St. Vincent was a complete surprise to me! I had come from Australia to dive Bonaire and was urged by my friend Woody Mayhew to join him! My first dive was at night - instantly I recognized it would be different to my previous 3 trips to the Caribbean!! The background colours that night were equal to anything I had found in the Indo-Pacific. Lots and lots of critters to photograph including my favorites, the crustaceans."

"We had been diving at Anilao, Philippines staying at Club Ocellaris. All spectacular dives; even seeing coral spawning. One starry night our gear, minus that of Don Murray and Lori Wahl, was loaded into the boat and we motored off into the darkness. We were going to put Don's theory to the test."

"... nestled in the algae were not one but THREE Harlequin Ghost Pipefish, a male and two females, one of which was clearly pregnant. When I saw this treasure, I remembered I was fortunate to be carrying two cameras freshly loaded with film. But this was not an easy photographic opportunity since the bottom was composed of a very fine silt and any disturbance created the Solomon Islands version of "Desert Storm" and Ghost Pipefish make a living by being difficult to see."

Yellow Frogfish St. Vincent keeps me coming back. For 14 years, on every trip the diving is different. A variety of dive sites, no two the same, host a continuously changing set of marine life.

Woody's "Special of the Day" covers this, only on a first trip basis. His story comments on the different species of critters per day he found at the same dive site during his 3 week visit as well as the daily specials at several other dive sites.

Longlure Frogfish The first tale from the home of what must be the most prolific place for seahorses in the world. Woody follows a friendly seahorse through a night dive and describes all the marvelous creatures he found on the (almost) night before Christmas.
